Acrylic paintings on paper and canvas

The first time I experienced acryl colours was 10 years ago when I took a painting course at the LahnArtists in Limburg. Primarily I wanted to become acquainted with these types of colours and to experience the options. These were my first tries:

During this course I made more pictures. But I gave them away and forgot to take a photo.

But I found out that it was great fun painting in acrylic colours. Several friends or family "put orders in" like birthday cards onn canvas and "Horses at the water's edge" for my eldest niece who is a big horse fan.

During the past years I tried my hand in various techniques, among others working with "masking fluid" which is a rubbery liquid used to overlay a part of the picture to protect that part from the next colour. After the colour has dried the masking fluid is rubbed off. Though I found it is not very suitable for unwatered acryl colour as there is the danger of peeling the colour off together with the masking fluid.

Concrete ornaments and water features

Besides traditional pictures I started painting concrete garden features for our house in Florida as well. It is really great fun!

These are the concrete sculptures I have done so far:

Murals

I did my first murals in our eldest granddaughter's room:

But when we bought our house in Florida there were a lot of empty walls like in the front room, over the fountain on our terrace and the door to our master bathroom:

Bear houses

We made the first bear house for our eldest niece when she was a toddler, and later on Juergen and me built and decorated another playing house for our eldest granddaughter, i.e. Juergen constructed them and Maria's job was to decorate them.

Our first bear house for the niece (she is 20 years old now) was our own design:

For our granddaughter's bear house we got inspired by "Winnie the Pooh" stories:
